New Zodiacs: “Faraway Friend”

No, this has nothing to do with last month’s astrological faux debacle. Do you love the Woodsist/Captured Tracks sound as much as I do? Well you’re in luck. Pitchfork reported this morning that Zodiacs is a new group featuring this laundry list of personnel from those labels and friends: Dee Dee of Dum Dum Girls, Mike Sniper of Blank Dogs, Jeremy Earl and Jarvis Taveniere of Woods and JB Townsend of Crystal Stilts. You may recognize the majority of those names from another “supergroup” that debuted back in 2009. Remember The Mayfair Set? Click through the cover art to head over to P4k to listen to single “Faraway Friend” and for details on how to score a copy of this one-time pressing of 1000, out soon on Captured Tracks.

UPDATE: Stereogum reports further details with a quote from Sniper that this is more than just a band, “it’s a studio project with a rotating lineup,” and apparently Wild Nothing and Beach Fossils are in on the action too.
