On a new blog post on the Titus Andronicus blog, frontman Patrick Stickles posted a cover he recorded himself yesterday of The Hold Steady’s “Crucifixion Cruise,” partly inspired by his time in Ybor City, Fla. playing with Superchunk. So Stickles sat down and hammered out a nice little cover in Superchunk style which you can download here or stream over at the blog post here. Stream the original here over at The Hype Machine.
Also in the blog post are the details of the next tour from Titus Andronicus where the Jersey colonial rockers will be supporting The Pogues. It’s a short jaunt, but rich in the Baltimore/Washington metro area:
3/3/2011 – Chicago, IL – Congress Theatre
3/4/2011 – Royal Oak, MI – Royal Oak Theatre
3/7/2011 – Baltimore, MD – Ram’s Head
3/8/2011 – Washington, DC – 9:30 Club
3/9/2011 – Washington, DC – 9:30 Club
3/11/2011 – Boston, MA – House of Blues
3/12/2011 – Boston, MA – House of Blues
3/15/2011 – New York City, NY – Terminal 5
3/17/2011 – New York City, NY – Terminal 5
I saw Titus play at the Rock and Roll Hotel in September and it was freaking awesome. I definitely recommend checking this out to anyone that’s interested. Plus, it helps that The Monitor absolutely kicks ass.
