“P.I.” is the lead track off of Tape Deck Mountain’s Secret Serf EP that is due out on January 11 on Lefse. The San Diego, CA-based band seems ripe for the beach aesthetic, which is partially achieved instrumentally, but lyrically, it seems to stray away from the sunny imagery that is ever so common in music from the area. Frontman Travis Trevisan recently had a bout with unemployment which led him to almost Serf-like work, adding a cheeky play from the band on the lyricism and aesthetic from bands like Wavves and Best Coast. It definitely paints a different picture of the beach, and is nonetheless a solid track from an early 2011 release. Stream and download “P.I.” after the jump.
