Over at Altered Zones, Future Islands new track from their split 7″ with Lonnie Walker premiered. It has a wonderful production value to it, coming in more crisp and lighter then the usual Future Islands track. Having seen this one live back in September at the Benefit Show for D.J. Rice, it was nice to finally hear the studio version of it. The track has this sort of gleaming thing to it, and sounds a lot warmer then the harsh Baltimore fall, perhaps throwing it back to the groups formative state down in North Carolina.
Future Islands is currently on a tour of North America with Lonnie Walker and others. They play the Black Cat down in DC this Friday, so expect Dan to have [yet another] review of Future Islands live, and they will be playing an adopted hometown gig at the Ottobar November 20 with Winks, which should also be a wonderful time.
