The Brooklyn-based party rockers Matt & Kim have announced on their website that their new single “Cameras” is dropping August 31 and the band is touring extensively in the fall in support of the new album, also being dropped this fall.
Matt & Kim is a Fresh Heirs favorite and has probably been seen 10 times between all the members. The first Fresh Heirs concert was probably Matt & Kim playing a small atrium at Goucher College in Towson, MD that Daniel, Anna, and Marc attended, a chaotic day that involved Anna and Marc driving down from New York just to see the show (The DeathSet performed also performed and were amazing).
Since then, Matt & Kim has blown up from a small little secret to a headline-worthy band, as evidenced by their appearance at Siren Fest this past July (Lowden and Marc were there also). The tour dates this fall show far the band has come as well.
Fresh Heirs will be at Matt & Kim’s Virgin Mobile FreeFest appearance on September 25 at Merriweather Post Pavilion, while the October 22 date at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC is up in the air, although a decision will have to be made soon because that show, like all others, is bound to sell out fast.
For those in the Mid-Atlantic that don’t have FreeFest tickets and want to see Matt & Kim, the happy-go-lucky duo is playing The Canal Club in Richmond, VA on October 21, 9:30 Club in DC on October 22, one of my least favorite venues in Rams Head Live! in Baltimore, MD on October 23, and the Starlite Ballroom in Philadelphia, PA on October 24.
The above tour dates have Matt & Kim touring with Donnis, a band I know nothing about. The first leg sees them with fellow New Yorkers the So So Glos, the second leg sees Fang Island, and the last four shows of the tour see new Fresh Heirs favorite Javelin. There are also dates with Champagne Champagne and Big Freedia in there as well.
Any Matt & Kim show is guaranteed to be a party, so get your tickets fast.
