Video: Prince Rama, “Om Namo Shivaya”

Prince Rama have been a fairly publicized band as of lately. After catching on with Animal Collective’s Paw Track Records after an appearance at SXSW earlier this year, the band have caught plenty of attention opening for Panda Bear and Deakin, and have been name dropped on Pitchfork and Stereogum a number of times. Their record Shadow Temple was released back in mid-September.

The Psychedelic trio from Brooklyn have released a video for album standout track “Om Navo Shivaya” perfectly represents the Indian-Sanskrit chant filled album, combined with the wonderful swirling electronic-filled backing. The songs sort of make you think of a holy Hindu Temple hidden deep in a Nepalese village. Truly it is something out of this world. After seeing them twice this year (at Whartscape and at the Ottobar) they have quickly become one of my favorite new bands of the year.
