So finally I’m at the end of my lists that have explained my lack of constant posting in the past month. We’re in for a ride.
Tag Archives: Prince Rama
Prince Rama have been a fairly publicized band as of lately. After catching on with Animal Collective’s Paw Track Records after an appearance at SXSW earlier this year, the band have caught plenty of attention opening for Panda Bear and Deakin, and have been name dropped on Pitchfork and Stereogum a number of times. Their record Shadow Temple was released back in mid-September.
The Psychedelic trio from Brooklyn have released a video for album standout track “Om Navo Shivaya” perfectly represents the Indian-Sanskrit chant filled album, combined with the wonderful swirling electronic-filled backing. The songs sort of make you think of a holy Hindu Temple hidden deep in a Nepalese village. Truly it is something out of this world. After seeing them twice this year (at Whartscape and at the Ottobar) they have quickly become one of my favorite new bands of the year.
I’m an Animal Collective fanboy. If that wasn’t obvious, I want to make sure you know right now before the rest of the post. Everything they do, and have ever done, I’ve loved. Is it a bias? Maybe. But seriously, they are one of my all time favorite bands. So when I saw that Panda Bear would be headlining a show with fellow member Deakin, along with Prince Rama and DJ Dog Dick, I couldn’t resist.
