Listen: Daniel’s Top 25 (Radio Friendly) Albums of 2010 (UPDATED!)

Today at 4 p.m. I’m going to be counting down my Top 25 (Radio Friendly) Albums of 2010 on WMUC. It’s yet another year-end list so I admit it’s going to be something that you’ve heard before, but I think I’ve thrown in some surprises to make it worth your while. Like my Top 25 (Radio Friendly) Songs of 2010, this list will be a little different than my final Top 25 Albums of 2010 list because there are some albums that I couldn’t find a radio friendly track from. So don’t be too surprised when that list is a little different. After the show, I’m going to publish the list below and have the two-hour extravaganza available for download, so be sure to hit that up as well.

Head on over to wmucradio.com at 4 p.m. to stream the show or directly stream it here.

Check back after the show for some updates!

Enjoy.

EDIT: Download the show here!

UPDATE (6:41 p.m.): The show went well, and all around and away we go:

Kings of Leon Attempting to Ride the Chillwave?

What you’re looking at isn’t Washed Out’s newest release or some New Jersey-based band’s beach-aesthetic cover art. Instead, you’re looking at Kings of Leon’s newest album’s cover art. Come Around Sundown is due to drop October 19 with the first single “Radioactive” due out on iTunes September 14. It’ll be available to stream and on the radio some time before then.

So are Kings of Leon trying to ride the chillwave with this washed-out, blissed-out cover art? According to Carles over at Hipster Runoff, there will be a children’s choir on the album, but there are not any reports of synthesizers.

So what do you think about this cover art? Will it automatically make this album more appealing than Only By The Night? Or will it still be kind of lame? We’ll see.

Poetry by Kevin

Summer’s endin’ y’all

Carles retired

Chillwaves – crashing into the shore

Tryna feel it all around

but its hard

you feel a nostalgia for the summer

you think

one day

Ernie Greene will tell us

how to live our lives

once again

A Review: Neon Indian – “Psychic Chasms” (Apache Beat remix)

Now available at Pitchfork (link) is a remix of Neon Indian’s title-track from the chillwave masterpiece Psychic Chasm by Brooklyn five-piece Apache Beat, which was released in honor of the announcement of Neon Indian’s fall tour. If you didn’t see them during their last roundabout, I suggest you go for an amazing fun time.
